Paintings 2007-2009 by Cécile Romat
Cécile Romat works with a volatile material called dry-pigment. It adds a meaningful dimension to her paintings, reflecting what she believes life is: subtle and infinite.
She chooses, as well, iridescent colors that make her paintings' appear to change dramatically depending upon the light and the angle from which it is viewed. This reminds us the duty to be and stay aware of the moment.
In contrast, she mixes dark varnish to conflict with the bright delicate colors of the pigments which is the metaphor of the universal balance between our two sides as human beings. In her work she wants to affirm life by showing darkness being absorbed and conquered by the light. Beauty ultimately conquers chaos.
